BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a self defence system that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. Brazilian jiu-jitsu was formed from Kodokan Judo ground fighting fundamentals that were taught to Carlos Gracie by Mitsuyo Maeda.
BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique, taking the fight to the ground – most notably by applying joint-locks and choking techniques to defeat the other person. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition or self-defence.
The BJJ classes are taught by highly respected Brazilian Ju Jitsu 3rd degree black belt Gustavo Falciroli and assisted by Brown Belt Daniel Kelly. The venue has international standard mats and a sprung floor for takedowns. Classes are provided for Adults of all skill levels and an open mat session is available to do personal development as well as Private Classes on request.
